Description
Philodendron billietiae has got to be one of the most beautiful Philodendrons around! With its bright orange petioles and green leaves it really puts on a show as it climbs up a totem. The leaves can reach nearly 3 ft long. An interesting thing about this Philo is that it is considered a hemiepiphyte. Meaning that in nature it can grow attached to a tree as an orchid would or be growing in the ground as a normal Philodendron would. Dr Croat named this beautiful Philo in honor of his friend Frieda Billiet. She originally collected this specimen in Fr Guiana. This is a particularly narrow form of this species. Plants availalble have leaves about 8″ long.
